Murder suspects in police custody

JOHANNESBURG – The male suspect was captured on a CCTV camera, stabbing the deceased.

A man and two of his female accomplices were arrested on 10 September by the police following an extensive search of the trio who face murder charges.

The three were arrested in Parys in the Free State for an incident that happened on 30 May in Johannesburg, corner of Mooi Street and Heidelberg Road.

It alleged that the male suspect had an argument with the deceased at a petrol filling station. Captain Xoli Mbele, the spokesperson for the Johannesburg Central Police Station, said it is still not clear what the argument was about.

“The male suspect was captured on a CCTV camera stabbing Sipho Doctor Sithole, a 55-year-old male during what seemed like an argument,” he said.

“The suspect was driving a blue VW Polo with two females inside. He jumped out of the vehicle, ran into the garage and had an argument with the deceased. He rushed back to the vehicle and opened a boot and took out a knife.”

According to Mbele, Sithole tried to run away after seeing the suspect approaching and carrying a knife but he (suspect) caught up with him and stabbed him twice in the upper body.

The investigation is still underway and the three suspects will appear soon in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.
