King David take part in School SleepOut

LINKSFIELD – The School SleepOut has become a highlight on the King David Linksfield's Grade 7 calendar.

The Grade 7 youngsters at King David Senior Primary School in Linksfield braved the cold and spent the night at school for the annual School SleepOut on 18 July.

The school has been participating in the School SleepOut since its inception and it has become a highlight on the Grade 7 calendar.

Spokesperson for the school Gabi Cohen said that the evening began with an inspirational talk by several recyclers from Hugo’s Greenhood – an initiative that was started at Yeshiva College when they reached out to the informal waste collectors and created a link between them and the local community.

Cohen added, “As the Grade 7s were only allowed to sleep outside, they were then given time to construct their shelters using cardboard boxes. The children were given a cup of soup from our School SleepOut Soup Kitchen and were able to keep themselves warm around a metal drum bonfire.”

Toiletries and blankets were collected on the night to be donated.
