UPDATE: Dead body yet to be identified
OBSERVATORY – The mystery body found in Observatory is currently still unidentified.
The mysterious body found in Observatory Park has still not been identified since its discovery on 11 August.
Spokesperson for Yeoville Police Station, Captain Sifiso Mabizela said the body is still in the mortuary and the investigating officer is currently awaiting fingerprint results in order to identify the deceased.
The cause of death is currently unknown as well, but Mabizela added that foul play has been ruled out.
The body was found by a vagrant passing by. The vagrant, who wished to remain anonymous said, “I’ve seen this guy sleeping at the park. I’ve seen him for the past three days. He was fine yesterday. I saw him sleeping but he was on top of his jacket when it was cold and I saw he wasn’t breathing so I called the first police car that came past.”
