Councillor congratulates officers on successful arrest

HIGHLANDS NORTH – Officers work together to arrest suspect.

 

Metro police and CAP Security officers arrested a suspect in Highlands North after he allegedly robbed a homeowner of her belongings in Waverley on 18 October.

Spokesperson for CAP Security, Nicole Marcus said, “Two suspects arrived at the premises on foot and followed the victim into the property on her return home. The suspects [allegedly] robbed the victim of various valuables and fled the scene in the direction of Highlands North.”

After arriving on the scene, the tactical officers where shown by a witness the direction the suspects took while fleeing the scene.

“A short distance away, one suspect was seen running down Rosen Street in Highlands North. Officers gave chase and the suspect was apprehended. He was found in possession of a firearm as well as stolen items from the home invasion.”

Patrolling Metro police officers assisted the tactical officers with the arrest.

The suspect was handed over to Norwood Police Station.

The second suspect is still at large.

Ward 74 councillor David Fisher congratulated the officers on the arrest. Fisher said, “I, as councillor, congratulate them on doing great work in our ward. Crime is a serious problem that [affects] all citizens.”
