UPDATE: House robber wanted

Norwood – The case is now being investigated by the specialised police unit of the provincial department.

A case of house robbery at Minister of Communication, Ayanda Dlodlo’s home in Burford Street in Norwood, has been moved to the Gauteng provincial police department.

This was revealed by Norwood police spokesperson, Captain Elliot Tshivhase in an exclusive interview with the North Eastern Tribune. Tshivhase said, “The case is no longer investigated by the Norwood police but the provincial office. This is a high-level case because it involves a minister thus it has been moved.”

Asked if the suspect had been arrested or identified, he said, “We have not been informed about any arrest or anything else concerning the case.”

The paper had reported that on 4 September a man had entered and attempted to steal valuables from a cottage used by the minister’s daughter. The alleged thief managed to get onto the minister’s property which has a high-level of security including guards and entered the cottage without being noticed.

As the thief was about to leave, a guard saw him and he dropped the stolen goods and fled the scene. The suspect had stolen an iPad, jewellery and other expensive valuables estimated to cost about R20 000.

A case of house robbery was registered at the Norwood Police Station.

Attempts to get comment from the provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Lungelo Dlamini were unsuccessful.

A manhunt has been launched and an investigation is underway.
