Thief caught in undies

KEW - Semi-naked man nabbed after breaking into a house.

A man caught attempting to steal valuables from a house in an almost-naked state was arrested by Bramley police.

The bizarre incident took place in Kew while the owner of the house was sleeping when he received a call from his neighbour who informed him that an unknown man was seen trying to open the back door.

According to Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley Police Station, when the resident went to investigate, he found the suspect already in the house.

“The complainant allegedly found the man in his playroom, wearing nothing but his underwear, and when he questioned the suspect on why he was not wearing any clothes, he allegedly said his clothes were with his friend,” Maphakela said. The resident then proceeded to call the Bramley police who arrested the accused.

Maphakela confirmed that the man was detained at the Bramley Police Station and charged with housebreaking with the intention to steal.

“The suspect has since appeared in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to face the charges against him.”
