Suspects shoots himself in the foot… literally
JOBURG - Police arrived at the scene of a shooting on Alexandra Street in Berea at about 1pm on 23 July where a male had allegedly shot and wounded three people ... and himself in the foot.
Constable Thabo Malatji of Yeoville police said, “We arrived at the scene where a male was trying to flee while a number of bystanders were screaming.”
According to Malatji, the male had allegedly shot three people and tried to flee the area, however, he shot himself in the foot while trying to escape and police managed to apprehend him.
“One of the victims was in a critical condition and was transported to hospital,” he added.
According to Malatji, the suspect was also transported to hospital.
“The suspect shot himself in the foot while he was running away, he was taken to hospital under police guard,” he said.
The suspect is facing charges of attempted murder and being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
