“Five male suspects allegedly robbed a 29-year-old male and a 27-year-old female, both of whom were driving different vehicles on the day in question,” said Mbele. “The victims’ [vehicles] were stationary at a robot at the intersection of Main Reef Road and Henry Nxumalo Street when the incidents took place.

“A cellphone and R2 000 cash were taken from the male victim at gunpoint, while the female victim’s laptop, cellphone and handbag containing a purse and ID were also taken.”

Mbele said the female victim screamed for help while the male victim drove off and alerted police after he was robbed.
