Covid-19: Lisa Raleigh shares tips to keep healthy during lock-down

PARKHURST – Wellness expert Lisa Raleigh advises residents to stay calm, exercise and eat healthy during lock-down.

Wellness expert and Parkhurst resident Lisa Raleigh encourages community members to exercise during the lock-down level 4 period.

Raleigh says that exercise helps to reduce the risk of anxiety and depression, promotes better sleep, and lowers stress.

She advises residents, “Stay calm, stay informed, practise regular self-care such as boosting your immune system, getting enough sleep and eating plenty of healthy foods.

“Also, up your vitamin and supplement intake and avoid sugar and processed foods. The stronger your immune system is, the better chance you have of staying healthy.”

“Enjoy the time at home with your family. Use the opportunity to meditate, write in a gratitude journal, read a book, experiment in the kitchen, watch a good series and do whatever you can to stay calm and positive.”

She advises residents to not stop exercising.

Raleigh recommends indoor fitness activities including rebounding and weight training during the lock-down.

“If you’re healthy and not prone to injury, high-intensity interval training either on the rebounder or off the rebounder is great because you burn the most calories and fat while boosting your metabolism in a short space of time. So 20-30 minutes is all you need for maximum benefits.”
