Suspects appear in court to answer on charges of possession of suspected stolen property

PARKVIEW – The Parkview Police Station Commander commended detectives for their swift response in getting two suspects in jail and in court.

Parkview Police Station detectives arrested two suspects for possession of suspected stolen property on 4 March.

According to the station spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, the arrest came after a complainant reported that his motor vehicle, a Ford Ranger, was stolen. The vehicle was stolen on 3 March and it was recovered on the same day in Diepkloof. They were able to track the complainant’s cell phone, an iPhone XR, which was still the car.

“Parkview detectives drove with the complainant as his cell phone was ‘tracking’. Through further investigation, the cell phone was found inside a vehicle in Braamfontein. Two occupants a male (24) and a minor female (17) were inside the car,” Sibeko said.

She added that the police searched the car and found 17 cell phones, including the complainant’s, in their possession. Both suspects were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property. “Both suspects appeared at the Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court on 5 March to answer on charges of possession of suspected stolen property. The Parkview Police Station Commander would like to commend the members for their swift response.”
