Grade 7 and Grade 0 learners at Pridwin connect over Tents and Torches

MELROSE – Grade 0 learners bonded with their Grade 7 big brothers through the Tents and Torches event at the school.

Grade 7s and Grade 0s at Pridwin Preparatory School enjoyed a Tents and Torches picnic together on 7 February.

Marketing manager at the school Demi-Rae Le Roux explained that the school approaches the development of leadership through its Big Brother Programme where Grade 0s are paired with a Grade 7 big brother. The brothers meet weekly through the year working on collaborative projects and building relationships that foster a sense of belonging.

Le Roux said, “The Grade 7s get to practice their leadership skills through the way that they manage this honour.”

The Tents and Torches event was aimed at the leavers passing on a little of the love they hold for the school as well as sage advice about the journey through Pridwin.

“While parents connected, the boys pitched tents and read books by torchlight. A lot of running around and general merriment was also seen and a good evening was had by all.”
