Parkview police investigate case of attempted murder in the early hours of New Year’s Day

PARKHURST – A case of attempted murder has been opened at the Parkview Police Station following the shooting of a man in Parkhurst in the early hours of New Year's Day.


Parkview police are investigating a case of attempted murder after a 24-year-old man was shot at a restaurant in Parkhurst around 12.10am on 1 January.

Spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said that the 24-year-old man noticed that he was bleeding, attributing the bleeding to possibly being struck by fire crackers during the New Year crossover celebrations.

Sibeko said, “The man was rushed to a nearby hospital where it was confirmed, after medical examination, that his injuries were sustained from a firearm shot.”

Sibeko said that the suspect or suspects are unknown and police investigations are currently under way.

“Anyone who may have information on this incident is urged to report to the police by calling the crime stop number 086 001 0111 or by giving a tip-off on the MySAPS app that can be downloaded onto any smartphone. Information can be given anonymously.”
