CRAIGHALL PARK – Residents in Craighall Park can look forward to better service next year as the CRA conducted a survey to get more information on their needs.

The CraigPark Residents’ Association has been working with local residents for nearly 60 years and the current committee is no exception – adding a technological spin with a new website that will be going up shortly.

This will be an exceptional site with public and member pages as well as a community portal where people can access a range of local contacts, information, and initiatives. The website is managed by Robyn Bell, the association’s new part-time, paid an administrative assistant.

The CRA Newsletter is back to coordinate and provide news of activities in the area. Local residents and Jozi Trails joined the CRA in October for a very successful Spruit Day when over 150 bags of rubbish were collected. Thanks go to schools – Kingsmead College in particular, and local businesses such as Colourful Splendour and Delta Café (reward vouchers for vast numbers of bags), Doppio Zero (free coffee) and Fine and Country (free water) for their support.

The CRA was formed to deal more effectively with town planning issues and continues with this work. The association is not averse to densification but works tirelessly to manage it and get the City to provide associated infrastructure upgrades. They have funded developments in local parks and improvements of the pavements outside Castellano and SPAR to make them more stroller and wheel-chair friendly.

An internet survey of the needs of the community has been done and will form the basis for new projects in 2020. An immediate outreach initiative is helping Moses, a displaced person – who of his own accord has been cleaning up dog poop at the blue bridge on the spruit – to get a cell phone and an uKheshe vest so that he can get donations from walkers and bikers.

The CRA wishes its residents a safe and happy holiday season and looks forward to working with them next year.
