Do your Christmas shopping and support local charities

PARKVIEW – All proceeds from the event will go to the Nicarela Charity.

One of Joburg’s most anticipated Christmas markets – The Parkview Charity Christmas Market – is around the corner.

Join the market from 29 November to 1 December and help raise funds to support beneficiaries of the Nicarela Charity. Over the last 11 years, the funds raised by Nicarela have generated over R6.2 million, which were donated to over 50 organisations. Last year, the event raised R1.2 million and this year they hope to raise R1.5 million with support from the local community.

The event, which takes place at the George Hay Park, is a joy-filled experience hosting 10 000 shoppers who can purchase Christmas gifts while enjoying the various food and drink offerings. Shoppers will also be entertained by various local musicians, all in the name of charity.

Committee volunteer of the Parkview Charity Christmas Market Bridget von Holdt said, “Over the year, the entertainment industry has been very supportive of the event and we have enjoyed many prominent name entertainers over the market weekend.”

Adults can enjoy a trendy gin bar, beer tent and the ever-popular champagne and oyster bar to relax and enjoy the summer in the park.

The event also offers a children’s zone with plenty of fun activities for the kids to enjoy including jumping castles, a train, fun craft activities, Clamber Club and more.

This year’s raffle will include a Bespoke Travel sponsored trip to Zanzibar. Raffle tickets will be available at the market.

The event should be open from 2pm to 10pm on 29 November, 10am to 10pm on 30 November and 10am to 4pm on 1 December. Entry costs R50 for adults, R20 for pensioners, R80 for a weekend pass and children under 12 receive free entry. Tickets are available at the entrance.

All proceeds will go to the Nicarela Charity.
