Tapas to tantalise your taste buds

WATERFALL – Pictures of bullfighters, quintessential old Spanish tile designs and a laid-back vibe – lunch at La Parada at Waterfall Corner transported us on a trip down memory lane to a wonderful holiday in Barcelona a few years back.

It’s the first of the stores in Gauteng (there are three in the Cape), and it’s a really hotspot for date night and a top pick for drinks with friends – the cocktail list is extensive!

There are main courses and platters for sharing, but we went straight for the tapas. And boy, did we try out a range of them! The fillet was mouthwatering. The beef short ribs with sticky paprika, orange glaze and orange segments were sweetly satisfying. And the tuna tacos with pineapple, rainbow salsa, guacamole, miso emulsion and jalapeños were tasty.

But you seriously cannot visit this restaurant without trying the tuna tataki. The seared tuna is served with sesame seeds, avo mousse, angel hair chilli, soya-lemongrass dressing, shaved carrot and coriander. Even the diehard steak lovers argued with us over the last piece. Meltingly delicious! Tapas from R49. Details: www.laparada.co.za/waterfall-corner
