Emergency water shutdown to affect Morningside and surrounding areas

MORNINGSIDE – Joburg Water will repair the main bulk pipe at Marlboro reservoir, which will be closed resulting in no water.


Johannesburg Water has notified residents in Morningside, Gallo Manor, Greenside, Sunninghill, Woodmead, Waterfall of a planned emergency water shutdown on 14 August.

The shutdown is for repair work on the 600mm diameter bulk main pipe at Marlboro reservoir which will be closed. The repair work will start from 8am and last until 9pm.

In the Greenside area, only residents on Link Road will be affected, there will be no water from 8am to 6.30pm. The repair work is to connect a new pipeline and a meter change over.

Water tanks will be made available at:

  • 11th Avenue and Rietfontein Road, Rivonia
  • Satara Avenue, Gallo Manor
  • French Lane, Morningside
  • Lincoln Road, Woodmead
  • Lotus Street, Gallo Manor
  • Manor Ratcliffe Drive, Morningside
