Parkview Senior School shines at maths competition

PARKVIEW – Learners applied their problem and lateral-thinking skills to achieve top results at the Horizon Maths Competition.

The maths department at Parkview Senior School, as well as supportive parents, congratulated all acknowledged learners in the Horizon Maths Competition.

A total of 82 270 learners participated in the competition throughout the country with the first round held at the school in Parkview. Only 9 475 learners got through to the second round held at Horizon School in Turffontein.

Parkview Senior School had 28 learners in the top 160 of those acknowledged at the prize-giving on the last Saturday at the Linder Auditorium. The questions were difficult and learners had to use their problem-solving and lateral thinking skills. All the grades wrote the same paper.

Aman Morar in Grade 7 was placed sixth in the top 10; Amina Mayet 14th in the top 20; Gradon Stevenson 21st and Rebecca Leisegang 28th in the top 50 and Rebecca Klaaren in Grade 5 was in placed 112th in the top 200.
