Successful rotary arts expo done and dusted

ROSEBANK – The annual Rosebank Rotary Art Expo was successful with even bigger and better activities and outcomes.

This year’s Rosebank Rotary Art Expo, hosted by the Rotary Club of Rosebank was an outstanding success. For almost two weeks, shoppers at the Rosebank Mall were greeted by dumbbells full of appealing artworks for sale.

The art on offer was generally of a high standard, with both individual artists and studios being well represented. The mall was a hive of activity as artists interacted with shoppers, or sat painting at their easels. There were four demos and/or workshops daily, with artists volunteering their time to share their knowledge and skills with shoppers and fellow artists alike.

The Fourth Annual GTC Portrait Award Competition was again a highlight, with Gary Mockler, CEO of GTC, stating that he continues to be impressed with the ever-increasing standard of the competition. He further commended the commitment and enthusiasm shown by all the participating artists.

The winning portrait artist was Rika de Klerk.

For the first time, portraits painted by students from the National School of Arts were on show. Rosebank Rotary president Jean Bernardo expressed her warm thanks to sponsors OMD, Rosebank Mall, Caramello Restaurant and GTC and said their generous support helped to make the art expo the great success it was.
