Mother’s Day musical treat

PARKTOWN – The Johannesburg WA Mozart Choir will perform their biggest concert yet on Mother's Day.


Community members who enjoy classical music are in for a treat as the WA Mozart Choir performs their biggest musical performance yet at the Linder Auditorium on 12 May at 3pm.

The Mother’s Day Concert includes well-known, awe-inspiring Tchaikovsky’s 1812 overture with full symphony orchestra. They will also be joined by guest choir Colla Voce (South Gauteng Youth Choir) will again join the Mozart Choir for this performance.

Highlights will include Mozart’s Mass in C Major (KV337), Beethoven’s Welten Singen, Faure’s Cantique de Jean Racine and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture with full symphony orchestra.

Soloists include Hanli Stapela, Aukse Trinkunaite, Neil Stander and Dirk Venter.

The Johannesburg WA Mozart Choir was formed in September 2015 by the amalgamation of the Johannesburg German Choir and the Pro Cantore Choir. Since its onset, the choir has grown from approximately 25 members to 80 plus members under the baton of conductor Carel-Johan de Graaff, and with pianist Daniela Pretorius.
