#IMadeMyMark – Learners share their thoughts

SAXONWOLD – Learners discuss what they would do if they were president for a day.

As South Africa looks forward to elections, the Rosebank Killarney Gazette asked learners at Saxonwold Primary and Parkview Senior School what they would do if they were president for a day. This is what they had to say …

YANEZ NAIR (Grade 3): I would buy anything I wanted like nice cars and a bigger house. I would also make sure that there’s always peace.

THATO APHANE (Grade 4): I would see how much the country has that they aren’t using and use it to build houses for the poor. I would also get myself a lot of frozen yoghurt because I love frozen yoghurt.

JORDIN MCHUNU (Grade 3): I would give very inspirational speeches and tell people that it is wrong to treat people of different colours differently. I would also treat people of all colours the same.
OSITA IGWE (Grade 6): I would get rid of corruption and make it harder for people to cheat in politics. I would also make coding a compulsory subject at school because you can change anything with coding and even digitise politics.

MOHAMMED PATHAN (Grade 5): I would change how people live. There should be less homeless people, school fees should be less, crime should also be less and corruption must stop.

ROHAN CHIDLEY (Grade 7): I would clean up the cabinet and replace corrupt officials with ones suitable for the task. I would improve the quality of main roads and make different roads for the trucks in order to avoid accidents.

MUHAMMED MOOLA (Grade 5): I would build shelters for the poor and try to improve our healthcare by building more hospitals and hiring more doctors. I would also build restaurants where poor people can eat for free once a week.
