Parktown Boys Mohamed Mosam, Keeran Perumal and Kevin Mpano took part in the Scifest Africa National Quiz, ending in third place.
The annual science festival was held from 6 to 12 March at Rhodes University in Grahamstown.
This Parktown Boys team was one of four teams invited to the quiz after a preliminary test in February.
The quiz was a nerve-wracking experience for the boys who sat in front of an audience to answer questions in a limited time period.
The festival also included lectures, displays and demonstrations. One of the lectures attended by the boys was on exoplanets and some of the telescopes that are used, which the boys found fascinating.
