Suspected Parkhurst murderer arrested in Joburg CBD

PARKHURST – Parkview police arrested a man in the Johannesburg CBD for the murder of a man which took place in Parkhurst on 16 February.


 

A 25-year-old man was arrested on 26 February at the Johannesburg Central Taxi Rank for the murder of a man which took place in Parkhurst on 16 February.

The suspect appeared in court on 28 February. His name is Makara Makara and is also known as Ma Seven.

Parkview police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said, “Parkview SAPS members received a complaint from radio control of a man that was stabbed in the chest in Parkhurst. On their arrival at the scene of the crime, police found a man lying down with an open wound in his chest.

“An ambulance was called and the victim was taken to Helen Joseph Hospital where he was certified dead on arrival.”

She explained that Parkview police opened a case of murder and it was allocated for investigation.

“The members of the Parkview SAPS, detectives and Visible Policing together with CAP Security managed to trace the suspect who was arrested at the Johannesburg Central Taxi Rank.

CAP released a statement explaining that their undercover operation, together with police in the Joburg CBD, led to the successful apprehension of the suspect following a chase on foot.

Sibeko said, “The Station Commander at Parkview Colonel Theledi Gopane commended the team for their dedication and swift reaction that led to the arrests.”

Police appeal to any community members who may have been assaulted by this suspect to come forward to Parkview police or contact Parkview SAPS detective Captain Molepo or Sergeant Muluvhu on 011 067 6000.
