Support production Let’s Go On with the Show: A Tribute to Chris Phillips

CRAIGHALL PARK – Support CHOC and honour the memory of theatre lover Chris Phillips.

Amateur dramatics group, The Players, and rock/blues band, The Tone Junkies, will be performing a tribute show to Christopher John Phillips, a multi-talented man, who contributed greatly to amateur dramatics in Johannesburg.

For many years, Phillips supported and led The Players to perform many successful shows, which always gave back to the community by donating part of the show proceeds to charity.

Phillips passed away in September last year, and to honour his memory, his love for music and the performing arts, a special two-night only show, Let’s go on with the Show: A Tribute to Chris Phillips, will be performed at the St Martins de Porres Church in Craighall Park.

The shows will take place on 23 February at 7pm and 24 February at 2.30pm. Tickets cost R100 and all proceeds from the shows will go to CHOC – The Childhood Cancer Foundation, an organisation which was near and dear to Phillips’ heart.

Let’s go on with the Show: A Tribute to Chris Phillips is a show for the whole family, filled with great music and entertainment, as well as raise awareness around the need for cancer research and the support of terminally ill patients.

“My dad adored music and theatre,” “said his son Gareth Phillips.

“He also was the most selfless man I ever knew who would literally give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. This is why I know he’d want us to do this.”

Although most of the show will be about the music, Wendy Heather, a palliative nurse, will be giving a talk on caring for terminally ill patients. Palliative care includes improving the quality of life for both patients and their families.

Let’s go on with the Show: A Tribute to Chris Phillips will be in the ‘Barnyard Style’, which means everyone is welcome to bring their own food and drink, and welcome to book a whole table. There will also be a tuck-shop open where you can buy drinks and snacks during the show.
