Play-offs and finals for Roedean water polo to take place #SchoolSport

PARKTOWN – Community members interested in the final water polo play-offs at Roedean should go to the school on the day.


The annual Old Mutual/Roedean School Prestige Cup began in September last year. Now in its eighth year, this has become a major event on the water polo calendar. Ten top Gauteng schools play out for the honour of winning the prestige cup, of which the underlying heart is community service.

The initial rounds were played in September last year and the tournament resumed on 20 January this year, with the final round-robin games.

The play-offs and finals take place on 16 February. Should community members want to watch exciting water polo, they should head down to Roedean. The highlight on finals day is at noon when the learn-to-swim children participate in a swim-a-thon.

The schedule for 16 February is as follows:

  • Game 1 play-offs will be Roedean vs Crawford;1st Pool A vs. 2nd Pool B at 8am
  • Game 2 play-offs will be St Stithians vs St Peter’s; 1st Pool B vs. 2nd Pool A at 9am
  • Game 3 play-offs will be St Dominic’s vs Kingsmead; 3rd Pool A vs. 4th Pool B at 10am
  • Game 4 play-offs will be St Mary’s vs Rand Park; 3rd Pool B vs. 4th Pool A at 11am.
  • Swim-a-thon for the partner school swimmers at 12pm.
  • Game 5 play-offs will be St Dunstan’s vs Parktown; 5th Pool A vs. 5th Pool B placing 9/10 at 12.45pm
  • Game 6 play-offs will be looser G 3 vs. looser G 4 placing 7/8 at 1.45pm
  • Game 7 play-offs will be winner G 3 vs. winner G 4 placing 5/6 at 2.45pm
  • Game 8 play-offs will be looser G 1 vs. looser G 2 placing 3/4 at 3.45pm
  • Final play-offs will be winner G 1 vs. winner G 2 placing 1/2 at 4.45 pm.
