PNRA beautifies island in Parktown North

PARKTOWN NORTH – The PNRA's Community in Action squad has beautified an island and installed a wide walkway.

Parktown North Ratepayers and Residents Association (PNRA) recently revamped the island at the intersection of 2nd and 3rd avenues, planting agapanthus and installing a walkway for pedestrians.

Chairperson of the PNRA Lee-Ann Louverdis said the dirt pathway which existed before looked like an unsightly mound.

“We took the old paving from 7th Avenue and asked the Johannesburg Roads Agency to reinstate the walkway,” said Louverdis.

She said that Cinnabar Design and residents donated agapanthus which was planted by the Community in Action squad of the PNRA.

“This beautification project helped us formalise the pathway, creating a wide path for pedestrians. We would like to see this throughout all the pavements in the Parktown North area in order to make it a more walker-friendly community.”

Louverdis encourages Parktown North residents to join the PNRA to assist in funding future projects of this nature and increase the association’s ability to take care of the suburb.
