Seven people injured in separate taxi collisions on the M1 near Glenhove offramp

A taxi collided with a median barrier of the M1 near Glenhove offramp on Sunday afternoon, resulting in a 56-year-old man suffering serious injuries. 

Spokesperson for ER24, Ross Campbell, said that ER24 paramedics were on scene at 4.45pm, just moments after the first incident occurred.

The 56-year-old man was treated with advanced life support interventions on the scene and taken to Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital. A second patient from the first taxi incident only sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Hillbrow Clinic for further treatment.

In a separate collision, a mini bus taxi and light motor vehicle collided, leaving five people with minor to moderate injuries.

Campbell added that in the second collision, four passengers including one from the light motor vehicle sustained minor to moderate injuries and were also transported by ER24 to Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital and a private hospital in the area.

Johannesburg Metro police and police were on the scene to conduct further investigations.
