Parkview police work with Metro to make arrest

PARKTOWN – Metro police attended to a complaint they received and found a man sleeping inside a stolen vehicle in Parktown.

A resident called the Metro police to complain about a suspicious vehicle parked on the corner of Jan Smuts Avenue and Winchester Street in Parktown.

According to the chief of Metro police, David Tembe, officers arrived at the location and found a man sleeping in the vehicle. He was arrested and detained at the Parkview Police Station. The interim spokesperson at the police station, Lieutenant Colonel Lesetja Ledwaba said the Parkview police checked out the details of the car in the system.

The red Mazda was discovered to have been stolen in Norwood.

“They found that the vehicle was stolen in Norwood and it was then taken to the police vehicle pound,” said Ledwaba.

“A case of possession of stolen vehicle was opened.”
