Children to enhance their acting at National Children’s Theatre workshops

PARKTOWN – The National Children's Theatre welcomes new children to join their workshops during the school term.

The National Children’s Theatre in Parktown invites children between the ages of seven and 17 to join their workshops every Saturday morning during the school term.

The ongoing programme is designed to give children opportunities and experiences designed to build self-confidence and self-esteem. Classes allow children to explore the world of theatre and expressive arts and teaches them about live theatre, both on stage and behind the scenes, preparing youngsters to face the challenges of the adult world ahead.

Parents are encouraged to enrol their children in this programme which assists children to develop their leadership skills, strengthens interpersonal skills, communication skills and powers of expression.

The National Children’s Theatre is proud to announce their new director of education Coba-Maryn Wilsenach, who holds a masters degree in drama from the University of Cape Town. Wilsenach is an award-winning actress with 15 years experience in teaching theatre and performance. She has taught locally and internationally and was the senior drama teacher at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls.

Theatre workshops will commence on 19 January from 9am to 12noon. Children will be grouped according to age. The syllabus includes dancing, acting, singing and physical theatre. Bursaries are available for the programme. On the last day of term, parents are encouraged to support their young thespians by observing them in action.

All workshops will take place at the National Children’s Theatre in 3 Junction Avenue, Parktown.
