St John’s executive headmaster reflects on the school’s successes in 2018

HOUGHTON – Paul Edey discusses new community projects for 2019.

The executive headmaster of St John’s College, Paul Edey spoke to the Rosebank Killarney Gazette reflecting on the successes of the school in 2018 and looking ahead to some projects for 2019.

“The year 2018 has been an exciting year for St John’s College as we have moved forward with our implementation of becoming a truly South African school which embraces diversity and inclusivity and the talents of our community,” said Edey.

“The most exciting part of it has been that so much of what has happened has been led by our students, especially the 2018 Head of School, Ray Barrow who has a wonderful capacity for reconciliation and bringing people together,” he smiled

Edey said St John’s is looking forward to working toward their 125th anniversary in 2023 and with the implementation of the school’s strategic plan and the equipping of St John’s students to take their place in society in the fourth industrial revolution.

“We are looking forward to some exciting community projects next year within the area immediately to the south of us – Berea, Yeoville and Hillbrow – as we build on the success of our academy with the launch of the Prep Academy, where we will have Grade 5 learners from our neighbouring primary schools joining us for extra tuition and development in their maths and language skills.”

Edey wishes everyone at St John’s community a peaceful holiday with family and friends and a prosperous 2019.
