Truluck reflects on 2018 and looks forward to 2019

ROSEBANK – Councillor shares his plans for 2019.

Following a busy year as Ward 117 councillor, Tim Truluck shared some of his highlights and challenges from 2018 with the Rosebank Killarney Gazette.

Truluck said that some of his highlights from the year included the launch of Jozi Trails in March this year and seeing the positive changes it’s making at Delta Park and along the Braamfontein Spruit. He also expressed his delight at seeing new speed humps and refurbished sidewalks in Parktown North.

“I have enjoyed seeing the brilliant community involvement at Delta Park, Zoo Lake, Verity Park, Fearnhead Park and at the numerous residents’ associations and community groups,” said Truluck.

Some of the challenges he highlighted included the increase of displaced people along the Braamfontein Spruit, the realisation that many trees have been infected by the infamous shot hole borer beetles, the increased development and construction in the Rosebank node and the lack of movement by the City of Joburg’s Tender Adjudication Committee regarding the awarding of a tender for the Old Parkhurst Bowls and Soccer Club opposite Pirates Club.

Truluck has already begun planning many projects for 2019 including the rolling out of more trails and walkways at Jozi Trails, the water pipe pressure valve project, making a start on new parks in Rosebank, starting the Jan Smuts duelling project, rolling out traffic wardens in the Rosebank Node and hopefully seeing more renovation at the Parkhurst Recreation Centre.

When asked what he looks forward to in 2019, Truluck said, “Greater funding from the City to upgrade infrastructure, greater responsiveness from entities to solve service delivery problems and the national and provincial elections being over in May.”

Truluck wishes residents a safe festive season. “Stay safe, whether in your homes, in the streets or travelling to a holiday destination.”
