Raising funds for the SA U15 indoor cricket team

KILLARNEY – The SA Cricket U15 team got a helping hand from a fundraiser golf day aimed at helping to raise funds for their forthcoming tour to New Zealand.

A golf day was held at Killarney Country Club to raise money for the South African U15 indoor boys cricket team’s participation in the World Cup Indoor Cricket tournament in New Zealand in September.

The organiser of the golf day, Ivan Pistorius of Axon Security said because of the company’s relationship with the club they always chose initiatives such as this to support.

“Some of our customers, clients as well as parents have gotten groups together to create a fundraising initiative for the boys,” he said.

He added that each boy needed R50 000 to attend the tournament, which included accommodation, flights and other costs.

“Hopefully this is an initiative where we can raise some funding to assist the boys because obviously, it’s a lot of money for them to cover on their own.”

The golf day fundraiser raised R40 000 and Pistorius said they wanted to make this an annual event.
