A gymnast of Parktown High School for Girls participated in the SA Safari, the first international gymnastics competition hosted in South Africa.
Male and female gymnasts from South Africa, Japan, Wales, Bangladesh and Britain participated.
Caitlin Rooskrantz competed in two apparatuses, making the finals in both, and won bronze on the bar. She has recently been selected to represent South Africa at the upcoming World Championships in Doha in October.

Rooskrantz has also been chosen by the South African Gymnastics Federation to attend a training camp in Germany in September. The camp is in preparation for the 2020 Olympics.
“These are incredible achievements Caitlin and we wish you all the very best. Congratulations,” said Kerry Liss, marketing and communications manager at the school.

Meanwhile, the school’s softball teams played their first league matches at the end of July against Roosevelt. Liss said the girls were very excited, especially the junior girls who were playing their first match. “Well done to the U15 team that drew 11-all and to the first team that won 15–8. A great way to start the season. Keep it up girls.”
