Raleigh launches bounce revolution

PARKHURST – Get into shape and try out rebounding.

Lifestyle and wellness expert Lisa Raleigh invited media to an introductory rebounding class at her home in Parkhurst in celebration of Women’s Month.

Rebounding is a new low-impact exercise performed on a mini-trampoline to music. It involves a variety of movements such as twisting or jumping that can be incorporated using weights. The aim is to reduce the impact on the body but increase the intensity of the workout.

Raleigh, who is well-known for being the blue team trainer on SA’s The Biggest Loser and a wellness consultant on SABC 3’s morning Expresso show, is excited to share the benefits of rebounding with the community.

“After I had my baby, I wanted to do some cardio exercise to lose weight and needed something with less impact. I took out my rebounder and looked online to see what routines to follow, but struggled to find routines and noticed that there was a huge gap in the market,” said Raleigh.

She was quickly impressed with the results after she tried out a few of her own routines on the rebounder. “It’s a cheap and efficient way of exercising. It helped me feel lighter, happier and got my lymphatic system moving. It is even known to ward off cancers. It’s great for moms who want to shed excess weight and easy to bounce back because you can jump on the rebounder for 30 minutes a day from home and quickly see results.

“I gained 20kg during my pregnancy and since I tried this I have seen my body bounce back. I have a six pack and I am fitter than before.”

Health and lifestyle influencer Wardah Hartley spoke to the Rosebank Killarney Gazette before taking the class and said, “I’m excited to learn about how Lisa is using this to train people and have loads of fun.”

5FM’s Nicole da Silva said, “It’s great if you have joint injuries because it’s low impact, convenient and safe. I’ve been following Lisa for ages and am excited to take on the class.”

Fashion influencer Knox Thusi discussed her experience following the class and said, “It’s much harder than I imagined. It’s great for strength and toning and right now my legs are burning.”

Raleigh has launched classes in 10th Street, Parkhurst and invites the public to join her bounce back revolution.
