Parkview Golf Club’s four new heads of department discuss what they are up to

PARKVIEW – Things are changing and also staying the same at Parkview Golf Club.

If you were to visit the Parkview Golf Club you would see a few new friendly faces that were there before, but perhaps not quite so in the limelight.

The past few months have seen a change in four of the heads of department, and these managers met the Rosebank Killarney Gazette to discuss their new roles and some changes at the club.

While these men are excited about bringing their own flavour to the mix, they also promised to retain the traditional aspects of the club that members love.

Firstly, James Searson has been made club director.

“The R&A [golf governing body] is changing the rules of golf and we need to adapt to provide players with the product of golf they want,” he said.

He, along with the new golf director, Mark Fraser, said they had implemented some new tournaments as well as new concepts to existing events.

“We have lots of young and lots of older players at the club and the trick is balancing tradition with creativity,” said Fraser.

“We need to make one product of golf that appeals to all.”

The club has started hosting birthday dinners, mystery dining evenings and a Family Day event.

Ashley Nenugwi, the new head of the greenkeepers, oversaw the interseeding of the greens for the first time in 16 years, and plans to do so again in August.

The new head of the food and beverage department, executive chef Justin Simpson has also brought out a new menu with a few new dishes that have been a hit.

All in all, the club is looking to improve its experience on all fronts.
