Wadee sisters to launch their newly-written book

MELROSE – Taskeen and Mahdiyyah Wadee are releasing their children's books and are hoping that more young authors emerge.

The young Kingsmead College learners Taskeen (12) and Mahdiyyah (10) Wadee, will proudly be launching their books at the Kingsmead Book Fair on 12 May in Melrose.

The Wadee sisters are both authors and are launching children’s books already before their teenage years.

“The books aim to inspire others by creating awareness, especially among children, about endangered animals, poaching, deforestation, loss of habitat and global warming,” said Taskeen, whose book is titled The Horn of Africa.”

The CEO of BirdLife Conservation South Africa, Mark Anderson as well as Rhino Conservation expert, John Bassi will be attending the book launch, as they will tackle South Africa’s greatest conservation challenges together with the two girls.

Taskeen Wadee is 12 and is the author of the book The Horn of Africa.

“Together they hope to share insight and raise awareness, especially among children, around the battle against rhino poaching, endangered animals, deforestation and global warming, which threatens bird life,” said the proud mother of the Wadee girls, Kareena Ismail, who is also the organiser of the book fair launch.

It is said that the well-renowned illustrator, Shayle Bester, will also be available with the two young authors for the book signing.

The launch attendees can expect book-reading and book-signing sessions from the authors.
