St Teresa’s young ballerina is on top of the world

ROSEBANK – St Teresa's School produces a ballet star for the future.

Paige McElligott, a Grade 10 learner from St Teresa’s School in Rosebank put her best foot forward at the recent South African International Ballet Competition (SAIBC) – an event that saw over 80 ballerinas from 15 different countries vie for prestige at the Artscape in Cape Town.

The stiff competition on offer at the sixth such competition, had competitors eliminated, leaving only two South African entrants making it to the finals. Paige, being one of the two South African ballerinas in the final, was the highest scoring South African performer throughout the competition.

As a result of her incredible efforts, Paige has been awarded a scholarship to the Ballet Summer Course in Berlin, Germany taking place in August. In addition to this magnificent achievement, Paige was also extended an invitation to undertake a course with a recognised ballet school in Portugal.
