Administrative employees from Rosebank Police Station celebrated at Gauteng Excellence Awards

Rosebank Police Station celebrated a Gauteng Excellence Award received by two of its administrative employees.

Louisa Brown was awarded the Gauteng Excellence Award for Administrative Employee of the Year, beating out employees from 142 other police stations in Gauteng.

Tiny Rametse, another administration employee from the station was a runner-up.

According to Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe, the spokesperson for Rosebank Police Station, Brown applied for the award with the recommendation of her station commander Joyce Sithole. In order to qualify for the award, she had to demonstrate the work she has done for the police station in the past year.

“It was like a dream come true when I was appointed to this position but in the beginning this job was not what I thought it would be. I was so shocked when I won the award, I was moved to tears,” said Brown.

Sithole said, “I feel so proud and she deserves this. Louisa is a really hardworking person who is disciplined and dedicated. Sometimes she will come to work on Saturday, even though it’s her rest day, and do whatever she needs to do.”

Mdletshe added that the awards play an important role in motivating officers. “It motivates one to say, ‘I have worked hard and received recognition for the good work I am doing’,” said Mdletshe.

Brown will also be entered into the National Excellence Award where winners from all nine provinces will be considered to win an award in their respective category.

“It says to Rosebank that we have a hero, someone who wants to go the extra mile and it says something about our station commander and her management skills too.”

Mdletshe added that the award has also motivated others at the station to go the extra mile in their respective jobs.
