Gauteng Hawks launch manhunt for alleged police murderer

JOHANNESBURG – Help police find 29-year-old suspect.

The Gauteng Hawks are on a manhunt for an alleged police murderer who fled from police custody in July after his court appearance at Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court in the North West province.

According to a statement issued by the Hawks, it is alleged that on 21 August last year, Ntuthuko Mseleku (29) and four other suspects robbed and killed a tavern owner in Palm Ridge after threatening patrons with firearms.

Later that evening, they were stopped by Ekurhuleni Metro police who demanded to search their vehicle. The suspects refused to be searched and allegedly opened fire on the police, killing one officer.

A week later the Hawks arrested all five suspects in Rustenburg and Brakpan respectively and seized four unlicensed firearms.

However, in July, Mseleku appeared in Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court to face charges of possession of unlicensed firearms, which was later withdrawn from court, and escaped from police custody thereafter.

Anyone with information which could lead to the arrest of Mseleku is urged to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Adam Mdau.
