Hijacked truck recovered by Parkview Police in Cleveland

PARKVIEW – Two Parkview Police officers picked up a man who had been hijacked and helped him track down his truck.

 

Officers from Parkview Police Station recovered a hijacked truck on 11 September after the man who had been hijacked asked them for help.

The man approached the two police officers, Warrant Officer Jannie Titties and Sergeant Themba Ngobeni, on the N3 highway at about 5.50am. He informed the officers that his truck had been hijacked by two men.

According to Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station, the two officers told the hijack victim to get into their car while he gave them a description of the vehicle and the direction it was travelling.

The man spotted the truck on the M2 and the officers continued to follow the truck until it stopped near Cleveland Road in Cleveland. The two hijackers managed to get away but the truck and its stock valued at R250 000 was recovered by the police. A case of hijacking has been opened at the Germiston Police Station.

Parkview Police station commander Colonel Theledi Gopane applauded the two officers for a job well done.
