Stanlib hosts blood drive to commemorate Mandela Day
MELROSE ARCH – Stanlib regularly hosts a blood drive to encourage people to donate blood.
In celebration of Mandela Day, Stanlib hosted a blood drive at their offices in Melrose Arch on 18 July.
Sini Subrayen, the donor relations practitioner for the South African National Blood Service, said, “We invited all of the companies in the area to support this Mandela Day, so we create awareness in this area.”
The blood drives take place every month and it was decided to host the blood drive on Mandela Day so that everyone would be able to take part. Last year 138 people donated blood on Mandela Day and the goal was to beat it this year. This year a total of 129 people came through for the blood drive.

“There’s always room for improvement and room for educating people, so we want companies that aren’t on board with having a blood drive for their company to contact us,” added Subrayen.
“We put people at ease and our staff are very great at doing that,” said Subrayen.
