UPDATE: Body found in Zoo Lake confirmed as Edward Blonski

ZOO LAKE - The body was found in the late hours of the evening by members of the public after a two-week search.

The body found near the Bowls Club in Zoo Lake has been confirmed by family members as that of Edward Blonski. Missing since 24 June in Parkwood, his body was discovered by members of the public in the late hours of the evening on 11 July.

“Our family wishes to sincerely thank every single person and association who helped us search far and wide in the last two weeks,” said Blonski’s cousin, Jacqueline Wijtenburg.

Police are investigating and will conduct an autopsy. Parkview Police spokesperson, Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, confirmed, “On Tuesday at about 6 pm, the body of a 32-year-old man was found at Zoo Lake.  He was reported missing on 24 of June at Parkview Police Station.”

The body was later identified by the next of kin. An inquest case was opened for investigation.
