Illegal taxi rank pops up in Craighall Park

CRAIGHALL PARK – Local resident, Shando Theron, writes to the Rosebank Killarney Gazette to express concern over the growing number of taxis creating an illegal taxi rank.

Shando Theron writes:

I have had an illegal taxi rank pop up across from my home and I have written to the mayor and other officials on more than once occasion. As of yet, I have not had the courtesy of a response. On 3 December, I went outside to request a visibly drunk taxi driver to stop incessantly hooting his horn. When he saw me coming and tried to run over me, I had to dive out of the way.

I contacted the Parkview Police Station but, as usual, they were unable to assist and informed me ‘not to expect too much from them’, translated as ‘you can expect nothing from us’, as they were ‘otherwise’ occupied. Maybe having this letter published will galvanise them into action because asking them to do their job certainly has not helped. If you want to see for yourself, come to the corner of Buckingham and Clarence Avenues at 3.30pm in the afternoon. Also, take a look at the trash on the road, which includes beer cans and half-jack whisky bottles.
