Rotary Club of Rosebank helps blind guitarist shine

ROSEBANK – A blind guitarist was able to showcase his talent again after his guitar was stolen recently.

The Rotary Club of Rosebank, in collaboration with TJ’s Acoustic Music Club, recently provided blind guitarist, Martin Mabala, with a brand-new guitar at a musical evening held at Marks Park Sports Club.

Mabala is a well-known figure at the Randburg Mall where he operates as a busker to earn a living. Sadly, he recently had the misfortune of having his guitar stolen which meant that he was no longer able to make a living.

Born in Limpopo, Mabala was schooled at the Siloe School for the Blind where he learned to play both the guitar and the saxophone and was able to become proficient in both instruments.

The audience members at the musical evening were enthralled by his musical ability and the Rotary Club of Rosebank was pleased to come to his assistance.

Should readers be aware of any additional venues where Mabala can showcase his busking skills, they send an email to Hugh Rix, who is a member of the Rotary.
