SAXONWOLD – Taxi smashes into a tree on Jan Smuts Avenue

A taxi collision occurred on 3 February at 4.10pm, injuring 11 people.

The taxi collided with another vehicle and crashed into a tree on Jan Smuts Avenue in Saxonwold. ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found that the taxi had come to a stop against a tree, while a light motor vehicle had crashed into a residence wall.

Paramedics assessed the patients on the scene and found that 11 people in the taxi had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. They were treated on-scene and thereafter transported to the Helen Joseph and Charlotte Maxeke hospitals.

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring said, “Fortunately no one sustained any serious injuries and have now, most likely been discharged from the various hospitals.”

Local authorities were on the scene to investigate the cause of the collision.
