OAKLANDS – CAP arrests two after a robbery.

 

A robbery occurred on the evening of 3 February in the Oaklands area.

The victims were driving back to their home on Trilby Street. When they approached and entered their complex, four suspects driving a white VW Polo are said to have followed the victims into the complex.

Two suspects allegedly overpowered the two security guards, while two followed the victims to their unit.

The guards managed to hit the panic button, however, shots were fired and one of the complainants sustained an injury to his upper body outside their unit. The suspects allegedly helped themselves to some belongings.

Community Active Protection (CAP) was patrolling the area and responded to the alarm. When they arrived, they saw two suspects fleeing the scene on foot, allegedly carrying stolen good. Shots were fired, however, no one was injured. The two suspects ran towards Pretoria Street but CAP managed to catch up with them and both were apprehended.

Hillbrow Police Station spokesperson, Mduduzi Zondo said, “The victim is in a stable condition and was sent to a private hospital. The two suspects were arrested and will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on 6 February.”
