Lights literally nearly out for resident

NORWOOD – No lights or alarms due to municipal drama.

Bruno Galletti, a resident of Norwood, is no stranger to the woes and troubles of municipal account drama, however, his troubles have now reached unbearable proportions.

On the evening of 24 January, Galletti was robbed at his home.

“I barely escaped death and a friend of mine is in hospital with head trauma after being hit [by the intruders]. The simple fact is that these men knew I had no electricity and therefore my alarm was not working and that is why they came. I received two statements from the municipality for the same account and in two months my bill went up to R65 000,” said Galletti.

“Nobody comes back to me and as I mentioned before, the municipal manager is completely unreachable.”

He managed to catch two of the intruders while the other escaped. Community Active Protection was on the scene and arrested the men.

“It was a terrifying experience, I couldn’t see anything and was unaware if these men were armed and could kill me at any moment. I am now laying criminal charges against the municipal manager and will sue for damages. It is illegal to cut off one’s electricity if their account is under investigation.”

Ward 74 councillor, David Fischer has been informed about this ordeal and North Eastern Tribune is awaiting a statement from him.
