First day of big school

CRAIGHALL PARK – Smiles and tears on the first day of big school at Craighall Primary School.

 

Parents across Johannesburg put on brave faces as they dropped their little ones off at school for their first day of their schooling careers.

With emotions of happiness, excitement and some tears expressed, Craighall Primary School parents wished their little munchkins an awesome first day of school.

“The staff and I are always very excited for the intake of the Grade 1s. It brings new things and new challenges which allow us to grow as a school. At our school, we are a family and it is always exciting to extend our family every year,” said Andrea Prout-Jones, headmistress of the school.

All the Grade 1s were given a warm welcome by their teachers and were then taken to their respective classes. It was hard for some of the parents as they watched their little ones take that first step into their classroom.

Father Craig Mcintyre said it was a big step starting Grade 1. “It is hard to let go as a parent, you have to remember that your child will be just fine. I know the quicker I leave the better, but sometimes it is hard,” he said.

The Grade 1s started their day by learning each other’s names and were given a warm welcome by their teachers.
