Appeal for donations of books to the Rosebank Library

ROSEBANK – Clear your shelves and donate your books to the library.

Friends of the Rosebank Library (FORL) would like to appeal to the public for donations of books for their next monthly book sale on 27 October.

The voluntary association, which seeks to encourage the community to support the library, holds sales every month and proceeds go toward the purchase of new stock for Johannesburg public libraries in general and the Rosebank Library in particular.

According to Judy Stockill, chairperson of FORL, the librarian has first option on the books that are donated by the public, and suitable books are taken into library stock for the use and enjoyment of the borrowers at the Rosebank Library and other libraries.

“The remaining books are offered for sale and the proceeds [are used] buy new books,” said Stockill. “Now is a good time to clear bookshelves and make room for the great new books that will go on sale during the holiday season.”

All books will be sold for R10 and volunteers are welcome to assist with the sale and managing the sale stock.
