Blanckensee leaves under a cloud

JOBURG – Top Premier Soccer League official calls it quits.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed the departure of its general manager of football, Derek Blanckensee, who has served the league for the past five-and-a-half years.

According to recent media reports, Blanckensee is said to be leaving the league under a cloud which was quickly denied by the powers that be.

“We have mutually agreed to part ways, although charges had been laid against Mr Blanckensee by the league. The league wishes to provide clarity by placing it on record that none of the charges were related to dishonesty of any kind, but to administrative shortcomings in his department in the processing of a registration,” a statement from the league said without elaborating any further.

The PSL wished Blanckensee all the best for the future and indicated that it would make no further comment on the matter.
