U13 hockey league a success for Old Eds

HOUGHTON – Hockey team end season on a high note.

The U13 Friday night hockey league ended with Old Eds having had a successful season.

The league was played at Randburg Astro under lights and the Old Eds team played eight matches, won six, drew one and lost one. They scored 32 goals and only conceded four.

Old Eds players James Parker, Keegan Figueira, Liam Finlay and Tristan Jabour all scored five goals each with Dante Booysen and Conor Coker scoring three goals each. The team ended the league with a 7–1 win over Crusaders and all seven goals were scored by seven different players.

The youngest players in the team, Finn Campbell and Jordan Cooper, both 11 years old, were given an opportunity to participate in the league and managed to hold their own.

The club said it was especially proud of goalkeeper Bryce Bolton who only conceded four goals the entire season.

Mike Dunk, Old Edwardian Society spokesperson said these players would form the backbone of the club’s hockey teams in later years, and the experience they have gained over these past two months would be invaluable and bodes well for the future of hockey at the club.

Daryl Coker, chairman of the Old Eds hockey club added, “It was an absolute pleasure to watch them play this season.”
